The masterclasses for the Belle II experiment in Japan and the ATLAS and LHCb experiments at CERN provided a fascinating and understandable introduction to the world of particle physics. The laboratory tours and the insight into the Detector Physics Research and Technology Center, where we were even allowed to see the clean room, were particularly impressive. The opportunity to have direct contact with the researchers enriched the experience immensely. Data analysis, a highlight of the programs, gave us a real taste of working with particle physics data. The meetings with other institutions and the joint data analysis via video call not only offered exciting insights, but also promoted international exchange. The use of the English language was also a valuable experience, as it plays a central role in science.
This was reported by Rania and Faraneh, who attended two of the three masterclasses. All in all, three successful days of particle physics at the Detector Physics Research and Technology Centre, organized by the Physics Department in cooperation with Netzwerk Teilchenwelt.
