The school research days International Masterclasses "hands on particle physics" take place every year at many universities and research institutions worldwide.
This event aims to present current developments in particle physics. The focus is on active engagement with measurement data. In the morning, participants will receive introductory lectures on the basics of particle physics and how to handle measurement data. Data from current experiments will then be analyzed. The participants then discuss their results in an international video conference with international research institutions such as CERN.
In 2025, the Department of Physics/Astronomy at the University of Bonn is organizing three International Masterclasses in which data from the CERN experiments ATLAS and LHCb as well as the Belle II experiment in Japan will be analyzed.
All information on the program and registration can be found on the page of the respective event. A maximum of four students per school can be registered for each event.
The registration phase starts in January and runs until February 28, 2025.
